Shoesday Tuesday - shopping list for someone who is NOT shopping

So I have put myself on a serious shopping diet. I've unsubscribed from all the shopping emails and when I think I want to buy something - I just tell myself I don't need it!
However I am only human and some things have caught my eye.

1. We went to see Baby Driver at the movies Sunday and I walked past these divine blue velvet over the knee boots... Don't know how practical they are but they're SUPER pretty.
2. I saw these shoes first in a catalog and as I'm a fan of the Stella McCartney originals I really liked the dupe, but with the added blush pink and rose gold stars. However in store they seem a lot higher than maybe is practical.
3. I already own black velvet ankle boots but they were cheapies and these are better made...
4. This divine leather backpack by Deadly Ponies - a New Zealand based leather bag company. They've collaborated with 'My Little Ponies' - I may have to snap one of those up.

It was only launched last Thursday and it's already SOLD OUT.

What are you guys lusting after?
Every blogger and their mums are rocking straw bags - I want one but I cant tell whether that's a real emotion or if it's just their ubiquity that's tantalized me

How about you guys? Anything on your lists?

Sunday Baking - Peanut butter choc chunk cookies - inspired by the ice cream sandwich at Brooklyn bar & restaurant

We had dinner at Brooklyn Bar and eatery - which was AMAZING - but then desert came and we were in HEAVEN - Peanut butter choc chip cookies sandwiched with ice cream and a peanutty caramel sauce. I knew I had to try and make my own...

Ingredients:

115gms butter
70gms white sugar
70gms brown sugar
1 egg
1t Vanilla extract
100gms peanut butter
150gms All purpose flour
1t baking powder
200gms chocolate chopped into chunks

Method:

pre-heat oven to 175 degrees Celsius. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg until well combined. beat in vanilla and peanut butter. Sift flour and baking powder onto butter mixture and stir until mixed through. Mix in chocolate. Drop spoonfuls onto baking-parchment lined trays (the bigger the spoonful the bigger the cookie) and bake until golden and smelling delicious!

This recipe is so easy you cannot go wrong!
I was out for the night with my sister and father for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Tchaikovsky's 6th symphony with cello solo. What an amazing performance! YouTube it, you may recognize parts if you've ever seen The Witches of Eastwick ;-)

Will you be attempting these cookies?
They are insanely good.
Yesterday I made a Lemon & White chocolate blondies, I have to share with you all... AMAZING.

Happy Baking

Sunday Instagram catch-up: BANANAS/ Charity Bakes-sale cupcakes/ Boots boots boots, stupid winter/ Historic Village Market - new leather jacket - hit 1000kms on the new car/ New Painting.

Hi everyone!
I haven't blogged for a week because I am lazy! I've just fired up the laptop now to return all the lovely comments left behind on my last instagram catch-up! So here's last week...

1. Bananas growing in Tauranga, New Zealand. New Zealanders eat the most bananas by head of capita than anywhere in the world - 14 kilos each person every year!
2. Made 43 cupcakes for a charity bake sale at work - made $172! Which is nothing to sneeze at.
3. Sick of wearing boots to keep the toes warm - when will it be SUMMER!?
4. On Sunday we went to the Historic Village Market to pick up fruit and veges... I ended up thrifting an Italian leather jacket and buying a laundry hamper... was fun though - we also hit 1000 kilometers on our new car!
5. Started a new painting...

and now it's finished.

How was your week everyone?
Did you achieve all your goals or were you a slack bum like me?

Happy Instagramming all

Travel Thursday: Winter sunshine - Warm sunny winter days at the beach in Tauranga, New Zealand. When you're reminded how beautiful your city is.

It's winter at the moment here in Tauranga New Zealand and we've been through a massive cold snap! There was snow on the Mamaku Ranges just 100 kilometers down the road! However, Tauranga is mainly a beach town and we generally have lovely warm weather with a cool sea breeze. We decided to take an impromtu drive down to Sulfur Point and take a few snaps around the Marina there.
Shag's (cormorant to the rest of the world) don't have water repellent feathers so after diving for food have to sun their wings to dry them off.
This is the view from the top of Mauao -
That hill on the horizon.

Do you live somewhere amazing that you take for granted?

I can't wait for summer now, we're going to come back and take a dip, the water is so clear!

Shoesday Tuesday - Things you didn't know you needed - SALE edition - D&G Turban? Pink grape crochet earrings? A pink velvet mini backpack from Rebecca Minkoff? Or some divine fluffy slides

This Dolce & Gabbana Appliqued polka dot Stretch silk turban

now only $1749 (!!!?)

These earrings from Rosie Assoulin... apparently they're grapes...
BARGAIN - at only 120 pounds. Grapes are NOT what I see when I look at these.

In keeping with the vaguely-genital-looking theme - this Rebecca Minkoff Back pack.

It's so tiny - for the tiny price of only $178 US

♥ ♥ ♥

But the ultimate sale bargain this season....

These divine pink fluffy slides!!! Sorry, super limited sizes left :'(

Only TEN POUNDS!

SO, everyone is doing sale roundups which is awesome, but I'm not really in the market for any more stuff, don't wear half the stuff I already own. Instead I thought we could have a little fun with the slightly less practical items in the sales. *I cannot recommend any of these purchases except the slides - they're a total must have.

Click on any of the images to see and buy the products - they're not affiliate links :-)

Happy shopping everyone.

DIY Fri-day - Front entrance makeover, from sad to rad. Shoe Storage, lick of paint, chalkboard quote of the day

♥ ♥ ♥

So let's see the process

♥ ♥ ♥

As you can see the front entrance to our home was pretty sad, not exactly the warm welcome one could hope for. Paul dumps his bakers boots covered in flour right in the doorway so shoe storage is a must. Being a rental we're not permitted to paint or replace carpet

The Boat shelf got a paint - I've got a few projects on the go, all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

I left the outside wood green, think it goes well with the overall color scheme.

I did this sketch with white gel pen on butchers paper and inserted it into a cheap white frame. I love the contrast of the brown paper and the white.

For shoe storage I bought a small bamboo shoe rack from Kmart. Similar options can be found in all good home ware stores.

Also from Kmart: this terrarium (I'm using as a vase) with white pearly stones and this cute chalkboard.

Painted this canvas years ago - it is inspired by wallpaper and was painted around the same time as the inserts for my shoedrobe:

How did I do? Home decor is a constantly evolving process (as is my wardrobe)
I would like to maybe buy a rug next but I'm not too worried as it's not somewhere we spend any time.

What should the next quote be?
